Our Heating Services

Here's what we handle. Each service has its own page with more detail.

Heating repair

No heat, cold air from the vents, or a breaker that trips when the heat comes on. Our $90 service call goes toward the repair.

Heating maintenance

A tune-up before the first cold night catches small problems early, before you need the heat.

Heating installation

We install Rheem and American Standard heat pumps. Every new install comes with a free UV light kit.

Furnace repair

We repair gas and electric furnaces. We don't install furnaces.

Heat pump repair

A heat pump cools in summer and heats in winter. When it stops heating, we find out why.

Thermostat repair

A bad thermostat can look like a dead heater. We check it on every heating call.

How Lake Mary Homes Stay Warm

In Florida, about 2 in 3 homes heat with electricity. Only about 1 in 20 use natural gas. That's from the U.S. Energy Information Administration's 2020 home energy survey. So the heat in most Lake Mary homes comes from one of these:

  • Heat pump. It moves heat from the outdoor air into your home. It's the same outdoor unit that cools you in summer.
  • Heat strips. These are electric coils inside the air handler. They help when the heat pump falls behind, and during a defrost cycle.
  • Electric furnace. It heats with electric elements and a blower, much like heat strips.
  • Gas furnace. It burns natural gas or propane. It's less common here, but we repair them.

Why your power bill can jump on a cold night

A heat pump makes heat far more cheaply than heat strips. The U.S. Department of Energy says a heat pump rated 10.3 HSPF gives about 10,300 Btu of heat for each kWh of power. An electric heating element gives about 3,400. Heat strips are that kind of element.

Florida Power & Light says auxiliary heat can add up to $15 a day when it runs more than 12 hours. If your thermostat shows "Aux" or "Em Heat" for hours on a mild night, call us. Your heat pump may not be doing its share.

One License Covers Heat and AC in Florida

You don't need a separate heating company. Florida's Class A air conditioning license covers heating systems too, along with AC and ductwork. Our license number is CAC1822192. You can check it with the "Verify a License" search on MyFloridaLicense.com.

That license doesn't cover gas lines inside your home. An AC contractor can disconnect and reconnect a gas appliance when it's swapped out. New or moved gas lines need a different license, like a mechanical contractor's.

Repair, Tune-Up or Replace?

Florida homes use their heat much less than homes in most other states. But age and wear still catch up with a heating system. Here's how we help you decide.

How we decide with you

  • We find the real problem first. Our $90 service call covers that, and it goes toward the repair.
  • We explain what's wrong in plain words.
  • You get the price before any work starts, with no hidden fees.
  • If a repair makes sense, we say so.

Signs it may be time to replace

  • Your heat pump is over 10 to 15 years old.
  • It needs repairs again and again.
  • It leans on heat strips most of the winter.
  • It uses R-22 refrigerant, which hasn't been made or imported in the U.S. since 2020.

If a new system is the right call, we offer a price match guarantee on new systems. Wisetack financing includes 0% interest plans, plus longer plans that aren't 0%. Qualifying homes can also use the Florida P.A.C.E. Program.

Heating for Small Businesses

We repair, maintain and install heating for small businesses like shops and restaurants. A cold dining room on a January morning can send customers home. We work on light commercial systems only. We don't service chillers or large industrial equipment.

Heating Contractor FAQs

Do I need a separate heating contractor in Florida?

No. Florida's Class A air conditioning license covers heating systems too. The one exception is gas lines inside your home. Running new or moved gas lines takes a different license.

Is a heat pump enough for Lake Mary winters?

For most homes, yes. Heat strips add help on the coldest nights. If your system runs on heat strips most of the winter, have it checked.

Why did my power bill go up when it got cold?

Heat strips use much more power than a heat pump for the same heat. Florida Power & Light says auxiliary heat can add up to $15 a day when it runs more than 12 hours.

Do you install gas furnaces?

No. We repair gas and electric furnaces, but we only install heat pumps.

Are your phones answered on weekends and holidays?

Yes. Our phones are answered 24/7, and we don't close for holidays. Calls before 4 p.m. can get same-day service.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Lake Mary. We serve Heathrow, Sanford, Longwood, Winter Springs, Casselberry, Wekiva Springs, Winter Park and the rest of Seminole County.
